Efficient stop-start driving
We equip our micro hybrid vehicles with a belt-driven electric machine plus a control unit and intelligent belt tensioner that enables stop-start and generator mode operation. The system utilizes the existing 14-volt on-board power supply.
When the vehicle comes to a standstill at traffic lights or in congestion, the combustion engine can be switched off - and then restarted automatically without any perceptible delay when things get moving again.
Used in conjunction with an energy management system, this can yield fuel savings of up to six percent based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). In practice, far greater savings are possible when driving in stop-start urban traffic.
