Thanks to flexible modules that can be attached directly to the magnesium structure, many different cockpit variants can be generated. The cockpit’s visible area is divided into three modules – a driver module, center stack (central module), and passenger module, each of which is attached to the magnesium structure by four screw connections. Self-aligning connectors establish the required electrical contact with the cockpit wiring harness fixed into the structure, with all visible mechanical and electronic components being part of the specific modules.
This concept simplifies technical and design changes during series production and also allows entire modules to be substituted. The key benefit here is the manufacturer’s ability to replace functions to suit their specific strategy. Colors, trim, and shape are freely selectable to create a variety of different looks to suit a compact, luxury limousine, or sports car.
