P-Sat and G-Sat

The introduction of the side airbag brought with it a new challenge. While 40 milliseconds are available for detecting and responding to a hazard in the case of a head on collision, side airbags need to be activated after just 5 to 10 milliseconds.

Combining the P-Sat pressure sensor and G-Sat acceleration sensor provides the perfect solution. Working in tandem, they deliver real synergy benefits. P-Sat, which can be installed in the door cavity, detects changes in pressure in the door in the event of a crash, while G-Sat measures lateral acceleration. The result is extremely fast, accurate data that allows the control unit to deploy the side airbag within a few milliseconds.
