Our Occupant Classification System (OCS) detects the size and weight of the front seat passenger and makes the necessary adjustments to restraint systems such as airbags and belt pretensioners. It is based on our innovative sensor mat, which is fitted with up to 96 sensors to analyze pressure distribution. The data is evaluated by an integrated control unit.
Our Child Seat Presence and Orientation Detection System (CPOD) checks whether a child seat is present, and which way it is facing. This system provides children with maximum protection, preventing injuries caused by airbag deployment. Here again, the underlying technology is a sensor mat. The associated electronics can be integrated together with a seat heating system into one single mat.
Our sensor mats also allow us to provide automotive manufacturers with an efficient way of detecting whether seats are empty or occupied. The Passenger Presence Detection System (PPD) features an integrated safety belt reminder and ensures that restraint systems are only activated for occupied seats.
