Frontal impact

Redefining safety with acoustic sensing

Head-on collisions can take many different forms:
From a minor bump while parking to a serious high-speed crash.

Our compact, modular airbag control unit (ACU) and highly accurate crash sensors ensure the greatest possible safety. The accident situation is detected at an early stage, based on the specific scenario, and the restraint systems are activated accordingly.

In addition to the conventional acceleration satellites (gSat), which are integrated into the front of the vehicle, we offer a world-first in frontal impact sensing:
Crash ImpactSound Sensing (CISS), based on the principle of sensing structure-borne noise.

Crash Impact Sound Sensing (CISS)

Crash impact sound sensor (CISS)

Crash Impact Sound Sensing based on the principle of sensing structure-borne noise.
This sensing principle allows activation of the restraint systems up to 15 milliseconds sooner and with more accurate detection of different impact situations.

Occupant Classification System (OCS)

Occupant classification system (OCS)

OCS contains an integrated electronic  system that detects the distribution of pressure on the front passenger seat and enables airbag deployment and belt tension activation to be customized to suit the seat occupant.

Acceleration satellite (gSat)

Acceleration satellite (gSat)

G-Sat measures lateral acceleration in a lateral crash. Its advantage: Proven quality through extensive market experience.

Airbag Control Unit (ACU)

Airbag control unit (ACU)

Our compact Airbag Control Unit ensures totally reliable airbag deployment, constantly exchanging data with the corresponding integrated sensors and external crash sensors responsible for analyzing frontal and side impacts and other critical situations.
