Lidar sensor

Adaptive Cruise Control

With its modular design and unique installation concept, our Lidar sensor is a new and cost-effective alternative to a 77 GHz radar sensor. A key advantages is easy installation in the roof module behind the windshield. The sensor also supports additional functionality.

The Lidar sensor uses five infrared beams to detect vehicles up to a distance of approximately 250 m

(~ 273 yards). A jitter function captures the outline of the vehicle in front, facilitating optimum lane identification and object recognition.

This allows safe, adaptive control of both the distance to the car in front, and of vehicle speed.

Lidar sensor applications in the pro.pilot system:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • ACC Follow to Stop

Benefits

  • Cost-effective solution for all vehicle types
  • Optimum installation point: easy to integrate into the roof module
  • Modular design with upgradeable functionalities
  • Long range: approximately 250 m
