Chassis Dynamic Controller / FlexRay

The chassis dynamics controller coordinates the various electronic chassis systems in the car. Thus it ensures that they do not work against each other. In addition, it contributes to improving driving safety and comfort. The chassis dynamics controller communicates with the other chassis systems via one or several information bus systems. A potentially powerful bus option is FlexRay. This is a communication system for reliable data transmission between electrical and mechatronic components in real time. With its high data transmission rate, FlexRay is significantly faster than conventional data buses. FlexRay supports a deterministic transmission of data and can tolerate errors. This means that even if individual components fail, the continous operation of the communication system remains stable.

Based on the driving state, information from the vehicle observer, the driver‘s wishes and additional information provided by advanced driver assistance systems, the chassis dynamics controller calculates the tasks for the chassis subsystems such as steering, braking and suspension actuators.
