An innovative control concept offers major benefits in terms of functionality and ease of use, with centralized data management enabling the provision of display content. The new user detection recognizes if the operation by driver or co-driver. This results in a reduction of input and display elements. The three graphics displays – the central display, head-up display, and passenger-side display – are based on the same shared image, with the viewable information being tailored to the individual role. The Head-up Display and instrument cluster show the driver all the driving-related information, the display on the central cockpit submodule visualizes control of comfort functions, such as air conditioning and the audio system. At the same time the passenger can watch movies via the DVD player or surf the web. Other key aspects of our HMI concept are the ergonomic control elements, displays, and illumination systems, which help to deliver a more relaxed, safer driving experience.
